The House

The Utah Chapter of the NAHB Professional Women in Building designed and constructed a home that was showcased in the 2021 Utah Valley Parade of Homes. Our design team, comprised of skilled draftswomen, designers and engineers completed plans for a two-story home with approximately 3,200 square feet of living space including a finished basement. Strength, courage, grit, determination, balance, color and resilience are all represented within this ambitious project and the women who have been involved in bringing it to life.

The Women

The goal of this home was to highlight and utilize women professionals, skilled tradeswomen, and women-owned companies for all stages of the project. Over 100 Women from all across the country participated in this groundbreaking project to promote women in the trades and to show future generations that there are careers for them in construction. The eclectic, contemporary farmhouse style of The House That SHE Built represents the collaboration of the women in our industry and the varied talents and abilities of each.

The Book

This book was inspired by the team of real women who came together from around the country to build a one-of-a-kind home — The House that She Built. Mollie Elkman and Georgia Castellano were proud participants in The House that She Built project. They created the overall branding and marketing for the project, which helped secure donations, labor, and media coverage. They were so inspired by the mission that they created this book to be able to continue sharing this important story long after the home was completed and sold. You can purchase a copy for yourself at the link below, or contact us if you would like a free copy to donate to your local school or library!
