The Utah Chapter of Professional Women in Building (PWB) would like to offer you an opportunity to participate in the PWB “Women Building Utah” scholarship and grant program.
The Utah PWB is a non-profit organization focused on promoting, elevating, and supporting women in the building industry. Despite a growing awareness of the low percentage of women working in the construction industry, women are still significantly underrepresented in both residential and commercial construction. Women are very capable in this industry and can be very successful working as a trade professional, general contractor, designer, engineer, etc., and yet only represent approximately 3% of the construction industry nationwide. Our goal is to change the narrative and promote our cause by awarding scholarships and grants to women to help provide greater opportunities to participate and succeed in this field. Here are a few reasons to consider a career in construction:
The guidelines for our scholarship program are as follows:
The funds for this scholarship program come from the proceeds of a special project completed in by the Utah PWB in 2021 called “The House that SHE Built”. This home was built by women from all over the country and was the first of its kind in the nation, giving the Utah PWB national recognition. The home was built largely with donated materials and volunteer labor and was then sold to a local family, allowing us this opportunity to award scholarships and grants to women around the state to further our mission to promote and support women in the building industry.
