The House

Our design team, comprised of a skilled draftswoman, designers and engineers, has completed plans for a two story home with 3,200 square feet, including a finished basement. The home was based on original plans by Oakwood Homes, as required to fit within the design aesthetic of the Wander community. The home design is centered on functionality for a family, from a woman’s unique perspective. The design does an excellent job of providing for the individual needs of the family by incorporating elements such as a children’s play area downstairs, and serene master retreat, while also including opportunities for the family to gather together and create memories. The eclectic style of The House That She Built represents the collaboration of the women in our industry and the varied talents and abilities of each. Strength, courage, grit, determination, balance, color and resilience are all represented within the design.

Donations Needed

The House That she Built will be located in the Wander community of Saratoga Springs. The land is currently owned by Oakwood Homes. The Utah PWB is finalizing the contract for the land with Oakwood, who will carry the cost of the lot until after the home sells. In seeking to give the charity as much money as possible at the end of this journey, we are grateful for all monetary donations to go towards the purchase of the land.
Material donations are necessary for us to make this project possible. We have already received commitments from many national and local companies who are excited to participate in this pioneering project for women in construction. The material donations are being overseen by Natalie Miles. Please email nmiles@lklassoc.com if you'd like to participate as a materials sponsor.
The most important aspect of this project is to involve as many skilled tradeswomen as possible, and tell their stories. We have been excited to find many women who believe in spreading the message of women in construction by participating in this build. Jennie Tanner is currently gathering information on all tradeswomen and women owned companies who would like to participate. She can be reached at jennie@tannerglass.com.
